Published on Oct 9, 2014. My breast cancer diagnosis was delayed 5 years because I had dense breast tissue. No one explained to me how density impacts a mammograms ability to reveal cancer. No one told me that I was at a higher risk for cancer because of density. I had 4 mammos in a row read as normal when I actually had cancer.

Raising awareness of breast density increases detection of early stage cancer when it is most treatable and survivable.
